Hillman Auliya (Pharmacy Workshop, Mon 7:15 – 8:15pm)
Studied Pharmacy at the University of Sydney (USYD). Currently a Practising Pharmacist.
Mohamed Raad (Engineering Workshop, Tue 6 – 7pm)
Studied Mechanical Engineering (Biomedical) at the University of Sydney (USYD). Currently working at Breville Group with previous work experience at RedMed as a Biomedical Engineer.
Atiq Hakim (Engineering Workshop, Tue 6 – 7pm)
Studied Civil Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Currently a Civil Engineer at Turnbull Engineering.
Anzer Khan (Law Workshop, Tue 7:15 – 8:15pm)
Studied Commerce / Law at the University of Western Sydney (WSU). Currently a Lawyer at Lindsay Taylor Lawyers, with previous experience in business operations management.
Hisham Krayem (Commerce & Business Workshop, Wed 6 – 7pm)
Studied Commerce at Macquarie University. Previously worked internationally in Growth, Marketing and Strategy at TRT World. Currently the CEO of Biogenic Health Australia, with previous experience.
Nagib Shah (Careers in Tech Workshop, Wed 7:15 – 8:15pm)
Studied Information Technology at the University of Western Sydney (WSU) and a Masters of Data Science at the University of Sydney (USYD). Has 10+ years of experience in industry and is currently a Solutions Architect at Amazon Web Services.
Taimur Azhar (Careers in Tech Workshop, Wed 7:15 – 8:15pm)
Studied Science (Physics, Math) and Computer Science at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Currently a Software Engineer at Canva.
Q) Can I attend if I’m not a HSC leaver?
Yes this is open to all high school students considering university and deciding which degree is for them. Even if you are at university but are considering another degree and need more information, we are happy for you to register.
Q) Do you plan to cover other career paths?
Yes, we have a much larger careers expo planned in the near future where we will explore a lot more careers, as well as inviting a more diverse range of mentors. The main objective with this event was to simply provide answers to the *most commonly asked questions and concerns* by students. Therefore, the careers in this event were determined by an informal survey.
Q) How will the sessions be held?
Via Zoom. It will be an interactive and open space to submit questions ahead of time or on the day itself. It is completely online. Zoom sessions will be emailed out to attendees the day before.
Q) What happens if I have more questions?
We will ensure that all questions are effectively answered either on the day or afterwards. If you have questions after the session has ended, we will try our best to connect you to individuals who can provide the answers.
Q) Will the answers accommodate to a Muslim?
They will definitely accommodate to Muslims. The purpose of this event is to provide a Muslim lens and answer concerns specific to a Muslim audience that are not addressed in other secular info sessions.
Q) Who are the speakers?
The speakers are professionals who have been in your shoes and know the concerns you would have at this time. They’ve been through the study and work pathway you’re looking into and can give you valuable insider input that isn’t found in course handbooks.
